Iowa can be a lonely place…

27 May

Most of you already know at this point but I’m just so excited to share! WE’RE MOVING!

In the summer of 2010 I was blessed with an amazing job in South Dakota.  While the job turned out to be not as amazing as I hoped, it brought me to my amazing husband.  I’ve moved from Orlando to Vermillion, SD to North Sioux City, SD to Sioux City, IA.  I’ve moved once a year since High School and the trend is (fingers crossed) ending soon.  We’ve been in our home since last April and we truly love it.  But sometimes fate has another plan.

Since I met Britton he has traveled all over the US for work.  His territories were Chicago, Arizona and Southern California.  They’ve expanded to the Northeast, Hawaii and Florida.  Luckily, after having such an extensive “territory,” the company he works for is starting to narrow that down.  For the last 6 months Britton has focused his efforts in the Southeast, spending a lot of time in Florida, Georgia and Mississippi.   With this new focus they have decided to start moving their sales force to their territories.  We are the first to go!

I’ve been anxious to move back to the South pretty much since I arrived in the Midwest.  I have not been particularly tied to moving back to Central Florida and have even tried to convince Britton and the powers that be that Tampa or Atlanta would be a better fit for him.  I did not succeed.  In October of this year Britton will begin the move to Central Florida.  After spending his life in the Siouxland area I know this will be a HUGE change for him.  In an effort to create a home that’s all our own we are looking at areas west of Orlando to call our new home.  We are excited about this opportunity and want to find an area that I have no previous ties to.

Most of my friends out there know how much I truly love my job here in Sioux City now that I work for the Salvation Army.  This job has been a turning point for me and really helped me figure out what I want most out of life.  You may know already that the Christmas season is really the cornerstone of our volunteer and fundraising season.  We’ve decided that while Britton will begin living part time in Florida in October, I will join him after Christmas.  I suspect that October through January will be a trying time for us but I know I want to spend as much time here at the Salvation Army of Siouxland as possible.

Hopefully all of our friends up here will be able to find some joy in making the trek down to Central Florida every once in a while for a visit.  While the area has so much to offer outside of the attractions, I’m hoping Disney and Universal being so close will be advantageous for us in that respect!  Our doors will ALWAYS be open to house guests and I can’t wait to share more about our adventures in moving!
