Friday I’m In Love

30 Oct

Happy Friday Y’all!

This week has been mostly stressful for me.  Deadlines and missed deadlines were the story of my life!  But despite that, I have found many things to fall in love with!

Wall Family vacations.  We were so lucky last weekend to have our Wall clan in town for a long weekend.  Friday night we played simulator games at Deweys in Dr. Phillips.  We spent the whole day Saturday at Disney (literally 8:30 am – 12 am with a nap break somewhere in the middle).  Sunday we were lazy watching football and checking out downtown Winter Garden.  We loved having house guests and can’t wait for the next round!

Tervis tumblers.  I like my water cold. Always. And these cups just do the trick for me.  I have been pounding water this week while I try to stick to above, said, deadlines and these trusty water cups have been by my side through it all.  I’ve been collecting them for years, so I can’t say this is a new love but its one worth sharing for sure.  My favorites right now are the large ones with the lids.  I even bought some of their straws for easy drinking. Perfection!

Amazon Same Day Shipping. HAS COME TO ORLANDO! WHAT?! Technically I don’t live in Orlando so imagine my surprise when a comb I ordered one night this week arrived the next day! Oh man. It really is exciting.  I heard about it last weekend in this article but did not realize I was in the lucky radius of same day shipment!

Eden Family Love Fest.  That’s what we call Eden get togethers.  Almost the whole family was in town this week and Wednesday night my dad hosted everyone for a big family dinner.  Uncles from both sides of the continent made it down for the week and we had so much fun.  It was the first time I had seen some of my family since our wedding in 2012.  We had so much fun catching up and possibly planned a cousins 8k mud run in December that I’m pretty pumped about!

Jury is out on whether or not we are going to the Taylor Swift concert tomorrow night in Tampa.  I SO want to go but I also SO want to be at home to watch trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood.  So we have our tickets up on stub hub until tomorrow morning but I’ve been crushing on her album this week in preparation.  Love this song, and the video TO DEATH!

What are you in love with this awesome Friday?

Chalk Paint Redo

27 Oct

Hello friends!  A few weeks ago I took on a small project to see how I liked the whole chalk paint craze… I’m In!

I bought a few pieces of furniture a few years back from Brittons grandpa when he moved to Franklin, TN.  I have a soft spot for vintage furniture and probably would have taken more of his stuff if I had had the space back then.  But instead I took only a kitchen table and a side table, both from my father in laws childhood days.  I redid the cushions on the dining room chairs years ago and it was finally time to redo the side table too.

To start, I had to pick a paint color that I liked.  For a few weeks I was spending a lot of time at Adjectives Market in Altamonte and it gave me a chance to decide on a color.  We have blues in our living room with some accents of grey and coral.  I decided on Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey for the side table and purchased a small can of the clear wax.  I had plenty of brushes at home so luckily I didn’t have to purchase those too.

The side table had some water damage from spilled waters and condensation so I started by lightly sandpapering the table to even out some of the damaged spots.

The next step was to paint the piece with the Paris Grey Paint.  I decided to do 2 coats to ensure it was well covered.  One of the great things about this paint is that it dries pretty fast.  I waited about 30 minutes between my two coats.  I had some trouble painting the lower shelf of the side table mostly because the handle of the paint brush was too long!

After the paint dried I coated the side table with clear wax that I applied with an old hand towel.  The wax, unlike the paint, takes a little more time to set.  Before I set the side table back in its corner, I let it sit out for 24 hours before putting it back in it’s place.

I really didn’t know what to do about the gold handle so I found some craft paint and painted it white.  I’m still searching for a handle that’s a little more interesting but this will do for now!

I’m totally in love with the new and improved side table.  And it was so easy that I can’t wait to paint some more furniture!  Have you chalk painted any old furniture?  I’m trying to decide what to do next 🙂

Friday I’m In Love (Sioux City Edition)

16 Oct

Happy Friday!  So this week I have had the pleasure of spending time in Sioux City at my second home.  I didn’t realize how much I missed it here until I walked off the plane!  So this weeks FIIL will be dedicated to my Sioux City family.

The beautiful planes of the Midwest.  When I first moved out to South Dakota I was not as impressed by the vastness of the planes as I became.  You can drive for MANY miles and not see so much as a gas station and a farm in the distance.  Its breathtaking.  I snapped this shot from the porch at my in laws house.  Just in awe.

Chubby babies and their mommies.  Since I’ve been gone, my bestie, Lacy, had a beautiful baby boy.  He is 4 months old and weighs 21 POUNDS! He’s a monster but an adorable monster!  I got to meet Hudson before going out to dinner with his mom.  I love those friends that you can pick up right where you left off even though months have past since you last saw each other.  We sipped sangria, ate chimichangas and talked all about where we are in life today.  It was a great night and I can’t wait for a repeat!

The letter F.  Yea so, I realized last night that it was the perfect exhibit of the letter F.  The fireplace, watching football, sitting with my family playing farkle with a freeze warning up on the TV screen.  It doesn’t get more cozy than that!  Tonight we add to our F and we get to spend some quality time with our friends.  Can’t wait!

I’ve been enjoying my time in Sioux City so much that I convinced Britton to push our flights back by a day just to get a few extra hours with his family.  I hope all my friends out there enjoy this Friday, I know I will.

Friday I’m In Love

9 Oct

Hey there, friends!  I am so excited it’s Friday!  Although, tomorrow I have to work, this Friday means the last week day before a week in Sioux City!  Can’t wait!

This everyday hero.  Some of you may have seen this week that on Tuesday I went for a bike ride with my cousin.  7.3 miles into my ride I got a flat tire.  I had some reservations about going out that morning when I pulled my bike off the rack and noticed just how flat both tires were but I pressed on, filled them with air and went on my journey.  While I had a tube in my bike pocket, I did not have all the tools and I had not ever learned how to change a tire.  Low and behold, along the trail, at the Chapin Station, was a fellow biker working at the park that was equipped with all the tools and knowledge to change my tire!  Thank you sir for saving our ride!

The Centra Care in Clermont.  On above, mentioned, bike ride, I also endured a bit of an accident.  About 13 miles into our trip we were coming up to a busy road and I needed to stop (clearly). Low and behold, I was moving just a little too slowly to get my foot unclipped from the pedal and I tumbled to the ground!  Looking like an idiot and feeling some MAJOR pains in my hip and wrist, I arose to 1. my cousin trying not to laugh and 2. a round of fellow bikers asking if I was ok.  I was NOT ok and in a TON of pain but we were about 9 miles from the car so I had to power through!  My road bike requires a lot of pressure on your wrists which made the trip extremely unpleasant.  I rode the bike for another 7 miles before I totally lost my willpower to go on and sent my cousin on her way to the car.  Thank goodness I wasn’t alone and had my extremely caring cousin, Katie to come to my rescue!  I am so thankful for our Centra Care in Clermont as they were able to see me that evening and diagnose the source of so much pain in my hand and wrist.  A splint and $30 later I was sent on my way to nurse my physical and emotional wounds.

Etsy jeweler Decor8Jewelry.  Britton took some notes from my etsy favorites last week to find me some new jewels for our anniversary (yeay!) and this piece came in TODAY!  It got stuck in White Plains, NY for about a week but after tracking it down on my end (and decor8jewelry) we found it and it arrived today.  So in love with this piece!

Etsy dealer, PutOnLoveDesigns. I am so in love with my two new, Florida State inspired diffusing bracelets. She also does giveaways on Instagram all the time so check her out for sure!

I am really looking forward to next week and an opportunity to spend some quality time with the Wall family and all of our Sioux City friends.  I have a feeling next week will be a Sioux City edition of FIIL 🙂

Be sure to check out what my fellow bloggers are up to this Friday!

Friday I’m In Love

2 Oct

Happy Friday friends!  This week I’ve been all by my lonesome while Britton was in Las Vegas for work.  But I’ve been trying to be productive anyway 🙂

IMG_3815Sleep. Yes that’s right, I’ve been trying to accomplish sleep 🙂  Over the past few weeks I have been on the struggle bus in that department.  And before I have kids I better freaking get some sleep!  This new blend in my diffuser has been a life saver!  I went from 4-5 restless hours a night to a solid 7 & 8 this week.  What a relief!  2 drops each of stress away, lavender and cedarwood and then rubbing stress away on the soles of my feet.  Thank you Essential Oils!  and Young Living!

Image (1)My awesome mom.  Today she is traveling to London to meet my sister who is there on business.  But the last three weeks she has been coming over to help me sew a new Christmas tree skirt.  Too early you say for Christmas?  Not when, for the past 3 years, I’ve realized in December I need a new tree skirt!  We’ve made this a monthly thing, to get together and work on crafty projects but this tree skirt thing has been one LARGE project. She has come over for a few hours the last three weeks to teach me sewing and help me with this apparent monster of a project.  Thanks momma for being awesome!

Apparently I gush over my husband in this blog!  On Tuesday we celebrated three years of wedded bliss!  While relationships are HARD, I’m glad I’m doing the hard stuff with my guy.  Happy three years and dozens more to come.  These Bouqs flowers arrived a little late (by no fault of his) but are beautiful nonetheless!  Since he has been out of town we are celebrating this weekend with the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot and a much needed weekend of just me and Britton time!

FALL TV!  I think its safe to say me and Britton are a little obsessed with good tv.  It’s the thing we do to relax on Sundays.  This year there are a TON of new shows that I’ve been trying out.  Blindspot and Minority Report are on my hit list!  What’s your Fall TV lineup?

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!  Be sure to check out my fellow bloggers on this awesome Friday!
