Friday I’m Missing Grandma

Last weekend Britton and I went down to visit my aunt and uncle for a quick visit to say hi before the baby arrives. My grandma had made our baby a gift before she passed away 3 years ago.  I haven’t talked at all in my blog about my grandma but she meant a lot to me. She was a knitter. She knitted each of her grand kids baby blankets and knitted each of us a blanket when we got married. She was bale to give me mine at my wedding shower but died just days before we got married. Julia Jackson was an amazing woman. I still remember snack time as a kid, getting a small Tupperware with skittles between breakfast and lunch when we went to visit her. Every year for Christmas she made all her kids, grand kids and great grand kids cross stitched ornaments. All of mine go on a special tree every year during the holidays.

So, back to the point at hand. I found out a few weeks ago that my grandma made something for our baby before she died. My aunt said that two months before she passed away she began making the afghan blanket for our first child. We were no where near even thinking about kids as a couple but grandma planned ahead. She wanted us to have, for our baby, what she gave my mom and all of her kids for their babies. This blanket means more to me than anything we’ve gotten for our baby boy. I hope he cherishes it as much as I do.

Friday night we went to Animal Kingdom to see some of the new night activity happening at the park.  My cousin is a drummer in the new Jungle Book Alive show and it was AWESOME!  He is an amazing performer and I had so much fun watching him on the stage. I’m hoping the show isn’t over when our tickets are active again in August so we can see the show again!

Last Saturday we did a Childbirth 101 class with Florida Hospital.  I was pretty skeptical about taking one of these classes and I’ll be honest, I didn’t learn a whole lot of new information.  But it did help me feel more prepared for what we’ve got coming in a few (or six) weeks.  What I really enjoyed was Britton being there with me. He learned some techniques to help me relax during the process and it helps that he always knows how to make me laugh.  I hope he can keep that up when I’ve been in labor for HOURS!

A Day at Home with a Newborn. Early this week I came across this article.  I shared it with Britton and now I’m sharing it with all of you!  I’m so glad he will be home to see the chaos of caring for a newborn!

This week has been full of crummy weather but I’m hopeful this weekend brings us some sunshine and fun!  Have a good weekend friends!

After this short week I can’t believe its already Friday!

My first love of the week has to be going to friends’ weddings.  It has been so long since I’ve seen and hung out with so many of the friends I made at Rollins as a graduate assistant and this last weekend at Amit and Barbara’s wedding I had too much fun! Huge shout out to my bestie merebear for instigating all the fun!  And thanks to Britton for catching this snipit of me dancing like a fool, 8 months pregnant!

On Monday, due to the over activity of the weekend, I was feeling like crap.  I just can’t dance, stand, walk around, party, enjoy myself like I could when I wasn’t pregnant and I haven’t gotten the hang of it.  I am so thankful for my dad, Britton and Foster (my three favorite guys) for taking such good care of me.  Dad brought Foster home to me even though it was SO out of the way.  Britton helped me relax and get comfortable once we made it home from south Florida.  and lastly, Foster snuggled up next to me to comfort me after Britton left on a work trip.  I love you all and I thank you for taking such good care of me!

Did anyone else read this article on women’s clothing sizes.  I’ve been saying to Britton for years now I wish women’s clothes weren’t tied to a number or a size but rather a symbol or color so we don’t always feel so bad about the size we buy in the store.  It’s not an indicator of our health.  Women’s clothing sizes are so completely arbitrary and they consistently make us feel bad about ourselves.  I really appreciate this guys facebook post and the article that followed. I’m sick of feeling bad about myself for the size I buy to feel comfortable in my clothes.  Who’s with me?

I started watching the HBO show Silicon Valley this week as something to have on the tv. Holy moly its hilarious!  Just watching this trailer again made me crack up!  If you haven’t watched it yet (and clearly I’m behind the game by 3 seasons) you should.  It’s funny.

Tomorrow Britton and I are in the childbirth 101 class at Florida Hospital ALL DAY! I am sure I will learn a lot but I’ll admit, I’m not really looking forward to it and I’m sure he isn’t either!

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Last Friday I got taped up by my chiropractor and OMG. Thank you KT.  I had mentioned in last week’s post that I had begun to have more intense ligament pain as my belly has grown and the tape thing worked WONDERS!  Britton is learning how to do it for me this afternoon so I won’t have to go back to her every week to be taped.  So glad I found this!

This is hilarious. The mom cut on SNL with Brie Larson.  I was catching up on some old episodes this week and this one cracks me up!  Hoping the mom cut doesn’t choose me!

Old Navy was having a BIG sale this week.  When I went to return some maternity clothes I got online I had to check out what they had in the kids section. OMG. This swim romper was CALLING MY NAME! And our plan this summer is to expose baby boy to the pool and beach as early as we can! So obviously I had to get it for 50% off!

They say you aren’t supposed to eat lunch meats while pregnant.  Well that’s been one of my only cravings (oh and last night I wanted one of those strawberry shortcake ice cream bars). So needless to say I haven’t stuck real true to the no lunch meats deal.  I love sandwiches!  We have a Firehouse Subs right near the house but normally there is no parking anywhere near by to make this location convenient.  Except on Tuesday 🙂 Thank you Firehouse for being so delicious!

This weekend will be a very special weekend for me as I watch one of my best friends get married!  Britton and I will be in South Florida for a weekend long celebration!  In reflection of my friendship of Amit here is a toast to you.  To my Bridesman, and ever best friend!  We can’t wait to celebrate!

20 May

Hi Friends. I’ve had some texts from you all about where my Friday posts have gone. It’s been a while! And I wish I had a better excuse but I don’t.  I’ve just been too dang busy to write! If you’re a facebook friend you may have caught a post I made last Sunday about needing rest because I’ve quite literally pushed  my body and my baby to exhaustion the last month or so.  After a month hiatus, I am back.  A lot of fun stuff has been going on at the Wall household with much more to write about outside of my Friday loves 🙂

Last week I got a ton of time with my little sister, Kristen.  She was here for my second baby shower in Florida on Mothers Day weekend and then stayed the whole week to end her trip with a bachelorette weekend down here.  I loved spending time with her and we spent an entire day (12 hours) park hopping our at Disney! We had a blast!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and one of my favorite articles was related to kids and peanut allergies. I know, I’m a long way from needing to worry about this but I want to do everything I can to make sure my kid is happy and healthy and hopefully doesn’t have a crazy restrictive diet. For me, that includes being peanut allergy free.  This one definitely has me thinking about allergens and our baby a lot.  Check it out here!

Last weekend I had a scare. I was not feeling well and was worried about baby too.  After listening to the advice of friends and family I decided to head to the new Florida Hospital for Women and check out their obstetrics triage unit. This might be a crazy thing to have on my love list this week but I LOVED this hospital! Within 5 minutes of me arriving in the waiting room, I had a room to myself and was strapped up to all the machines to monitor me and baby boy. I am so thankful to have this new hospital in my back yard and I just know my birth experience there will be as enjoyable as possible!

Britton and I have had so much going on lately that our TV cue really started to get long. So we took to watching the end of the show The Family.  Unfortunately it isn’t being renewed for a second season but Oh My Goodness… it had us hooked and we’re pretty disappointed it isn’t coming back to answer some gnawing questions.  But if you’re up for the suspense, check it out.

I’ve also gotten a ton of baby stuff since my last post but it doesn’t seem appropriate to share my loves since no baby has actually used anything yet!  So hopefully come August we will have some fun stuff to share about!

Good morning! I’m coming to you this morning from Sioux City, Iowa!  So excited to celebrate baby Eden Wall this weekend with the family!

The Orlando Citrus Bowl hosted Florida State football last Saturday for their annual spring game and we couldn’t pass it up.  Tickets were only $5 a piece and we had so much fun! We love football and getting an opportunity to see them play in Orlando was great!

I’m both super excited and super scared to begin this new phase of our lives and one of the scariest parts for me is the whole lets change diapers for YEARS thing.  But to make it a little more interesting we are doing cloth diapers.  Pretty excited and totally in love with the two cloth diapers we have so far 🙂  This is the stuff that makes life fun!

On Wednesday I had some meetings downtown and had the pleasure of meeting my mom for lunch at Pig Floyds.  Great restaurant with really fun food!  I had two tacos, the pork belly and the smoked brisket.  Both totally different and delicious!  I also love that I can support a fellow Rollins grad in his awesome business!

A few weeks back I posted the song Ophelia by the Lumineers.  Well their whole album released last week and I can’t stop listening.  It’s available on Amazon Prime right now so if you’re a member, you can listen for FREE!!!  LOVE THEM!

See you next week 🙂

Last Sunday the weather was BEAUTIFUL and when we got home from church i told Britton we had to do something outside.  So we decided to do some Florida hiking through Lake Louisa State Park.  It was the perfect afternoon.  The park is amazing with cabins to rent, camp sites and all sorts of aquatic activity on the lake.  We hiked over 4 miles and it felt great!  I’m so glad I am still able to get outside and move!

I am so thankful to have this pool in our neighborhood.  As my baby grows, I know the best place for me to be is going to be IN the pool.  I spent a few hours there on Tuesday with some friends and showed off my growing belly.  It felt great!

A few weeks ago we purchased a dresser for baby boy’s nursery and they called on Tuesday to say it was ready!  This came from Unhinged in Altamonte and it needed to be refinished. I was shocked it was already ready!  And it looks perfect in his room!

Wednesday night I did a painting class at Wheel Works in Winter Garden and we had so much fun! I went with my cousin Stacy and my mom.  The wheels on my bike aren’t perfect but I think this is my favorite hand painted piece yet!

This week was really good and I hope the weekend can extended the goodness 🙂
